It's Hobbs week. To me this is probably's Lovington's biggest rival. I know Artesia, Goddard, and Portales are or were big but for some reason this seeems to be the biggest. Maybe some of you can post some of your memories of playing the Eagles.

As a fan the best moment in this rivalry was morenos' catch in the corner of the endzone in 09. Remember they turned off the scoreboard immediately. I rank that play at the top. Cowboy jumping over the o line to hit the qb for a loss swung the momentum, overall just one of the best games to have witnessed. It was sweeter that is was against Hobbs. I know a few hobbs eagles fans and they dont seem to trash talk like in years past. And I still hear about the 01 game that was called because of lightining. What were the odds of them winning on 4th and forever at their own ten or something like that. Do they still do things to spice it up like paint something at the other schools' field or facility? I was wondering if they still do things like that.

09 was great with the fantastic finish. Cowboy's play was probably one of the best defensive plays ever.
One of the best Hobbs-Lovington games I think was the 98 game. I think the crowd was somewhere above 10,000 and Hobbs was led by D-1 recruit Walter Taylor. I think that was one of the best teams from Lovington to not make the playoffs. They were ranked 3rd in the state and unfortunately the 2 above them were in the same district. Team was loaded with Ridenour, Contreras, and Weiser leading the way.

Hobbs in a thriller 35-28. For some reason I still don't trust the Wildcats offense. Go Cats!!!

Man did that game last night make us go through every emotion you can think of. The boys really need to enjoy this one. Even the drumline competition on the north side of the track provided good entertainment. Who had the bigger crowd? They were the home team but that crowd looked pretty small. Has there ever been any games go into OT in this rivalry? And the scoreboard was turned off again immediately, they must get a high light bill. And running the crowd off the field for postgame prayer and speech? I guess all that people stepping on the field might kill their fake grass. Well cant wait for this game next season.
