Hot Springs comes in with a 7-4 record. They finished 3rd in their district behind Socorro and Silver City and the one common opponent they have with the Wildcats is Ruidoso. While they did beat the Warriors 56-38, that was the 3rd game of the season and I think Ruidoso was playing much better towards the end when they came to Lovington. Hot Springs beat the Zuni Thunderbirds 42-10 to advance to the quarterfinals. The last time these two teams met in the playoffs was in 1995 when the Wildcats won on a neutral field in Alamogordo.
Prediction: Lovington 35 Hot Springs 14

This game can be the start of something special. When was the last time a lovington has played in four consecutive state title games. I know Im gettiing ahead of things but just the thought is somthing to consider. Hot Springs likes to run the ball, but lovington will keep them in check. This time of year we get some windy saturdays. The kickoffs will be a factor. At the end lovington will win 35-12.

Let me start by saying this. If we don't get more people from Lovington posted on the boards or on this website, then I heard they are going to shut this down. How sad especially how Big Lovington is on Football. We needed this for a long time. Ok now to the game. I think Lovington will win 28-14. Hot Springs will be tougher than what we expect. The real test will be next week against Silver. I would put Silver a top 2 team in the State. Lovington don't need to take anyone lightly. Socorro got beat tonight to Hope Christian. I just hope Lovington isn't that team. Go Cats!!!!

catsbigfan - as fans I see no problem in getting ahead of ourselves. 4 title games in a row would be great! The closest I can think we have come to that was 1986-1990. we went to 4 championships in 5 years winning 3 of them.

They actually won three titles in a row also in 1968, 69, 70 .... not sure if they went to the title game before or after those championships but not too shabby

That is the only 3 peat champions that Lovington has had. Here are some interesting numbers 2008-2010 3 years, 3 championship games, with 2 championships 2000-2005 6 years, 5 championship games, with 3 championships 1986-1990 5 years, 4 championship games, with 3 championships 1968-1972 5 years, 4 championship games, with 3 championships 1957-1960 4 years, 3 championship games, with 3 championships Looks like most of Lovington's championships come in groups. Hopefully history will repeat itself as we need one more title in this group of years to reach 3 along with all the others.

Looked good on all three sides of the ball. I agree we need to pack the stadum for these boys. Disappointed in the turnout for a playoff game. Even the Hobbs sports writer pointed it out in his blog.
